Sandra Kaye Bowen

Sandra (Sandy) Kaye Bowen has practiced law in Atlanta since graduating from law school.  She has developed particular expertise in the areas of employment law and litigation, including the ever-evolving area of non-competition and restrictive covenants.  She has represented international, national and local clients in hundreds of employment, contract and tort cases.

Sandy regularly assists clients with the following:

  • Family and Medical Leave Act and other leave matters
  • Americans With Disability Act issues
  • Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation claims
  • Drafting and analyzing Employment and Non-compete Agreements
  • Counseling, discipline, and termination of employees

  • Wage and hour, compensation and benefit matters
  • Development of employee handbooks and personnel policies and procedures
  • Plant closings

Sandy’s practical day-to-day advice has enabled clients to avoid litigation and other disputes.  When disputes could not be avoided, Sandy has been successfully litigating in federal and state trial and appellate courts in Georgia and other states.  She has obtained favorable results for clients in proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the United States Department of Labor and in mediations and arbitrations.

Sandy has presented at and authored materials for employment law seminars on diverse topics such as the Americans With Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, the interplay between these and other laws and statutes; leaves of absence; mental health and emotional issues in the workplace; retaliation; protecting business interests through non-compete and other agreements; the employment process, including hiring; at-will employment, workplace torts, and avoidance of claims.
