Mac Irvin represents management clients in labor relations and employment law matters. After successfully representing employers in more than 500  union organizing drives, Mac has developed a positive approach to strengthening the employment environment so as to prevent the onset of workplace issues. His experience includes every conceivable employment issue ranging from union organizing and labor-management disputes to jury trials in federal and state courts. Mac has been featured on videotapes used by employers to educate supervisors in communicating lawfully and aggressively: “It’s Your Loss” and “It’s Your Right.” He developed and conducted a program for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce entitled “Management Strategy for Maintaining Union-Free Status” that received coverage in national publications.

Mac was elected as a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a national group recognizing excellence in the profession. He has been selected repeatedly by his peers as Georgia Super Lawyer.  Mac is certified as a specialist in Labor and Employment Law by the Florida Bar.

Mac has served as lead counsel for jury trials in federal and state courts throughout the country. He often advises clients regarding the unique issues relating to plant start-ups and plant closings and counsels employers on developing and implementing policies to deal with issues such as reductions in force, substance abuse, and sexual harassment.

He attended the Harvard Mediation Workshop and the Arbitration Institute; and is registered as an arbitrator and mediator by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. Mac arbitrates and mediates disputes involving employment agreements, trade secrets, business dissolution, and claims of age, race, religion, sex, national origin, and disability discrimination. He is a former President of Atlanta Dispute Resolution Lawyers and served as Chairman of the Labor Law Section, Atlanta Bar Association. Mac currently is Chair of the Ethics in Alternative Dispute Resolution Sub-Committee of the ABA Labor & Employment Law Ethics & Professionalism Committee.
